Pinkie Pie Plush – 001
After weeks of anticipation my Pinkie Pie plush as prepared by EvilSugar has finally arrived. If you don’t know who Pinkie Pie is, she’s a pony or more specifically a My Little Pony. Yes that’s right, My Little Pony, that old cartoon show for girls made back in the 1980s. Well it’s back with a new spin by Lauren Faust, who worked on such projects as Powerpuff Girls and Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends. The show is very well done for a cartoon and has attracted a large adult audience, and perhaps more surprisingly a male audience. Now I’ll admit I did watch the original MLP when I was a tyke but I haven’t actively watched any of the shows since (Hasbro tends to reboot the MLP universe every few years for a new audience) and what I had seen didn’t really draw me in. But when it came to this new show my Tivo thought I might like it…
It showed up under Tivo suggestions and I ignored it for a while, but eventually I just ran out of stuff to watch (Oh Spring/Summer and your lack of new television episodes). So I watched an episode and it made me laugh and even smile, it was just so cute, bubbly and fun. It really left you with an upbeat feeling, something we need more of in this day and age. Not long later I watched another episode, then another and quicker than you can say "Sonic Rainboom" I was hooked. I devoured the entire series on iTunes and then of course I googled it… boy was I in for a shock. It turns out there were thousands upon thousands of fans of this show, fans just like me (Sure the show appealed to little girls but something in it captured us older and often male-er folk as well). It would be fair to say that My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic has what one would call a "cult" following, fans even have a name for themselves "Bronies". Not that Bronies worship MLP or anything like that (And yes I do now consider myself a full fledged Broney), we just really enjoy the show… it just makes us giggle and smile and forget the troubles of the world for a little while (What more can you ask from a cartoon?).
I initially grew fond of the character Fluttershy, a Pegasus pony (That’s a pony with wings) that has a penchant for taking care of wildlife and is terribly shy. But the more I watched the show, the more this crazy… off the wall… bouncy pink thing grew on me. That thing was of course the Earth pony Pinkie Pie who has since become my favorite character on the show. She’s the joker of the cast, more cartoony than any of the other ponies, she sings and bounces all of the place. She loves to throw parties and she has the cutist little pet alligator. But Pinkie Pie isn’t a one dimensional character who likes to party, no her life was once far different until she saw the most amazing rainbow (No not a double rainbow) that brightened her spirit so much that she wanted to share this new found joy with everyone (And thus she through a party). She’s a bit dependent on her friends, her character loosing her bounce when she thinks her friends have grown tired of her (But don’t worry, everything works out in the end), and hey who can’t remember a time like that in their childhood? Yes Pinkie Pie has a number of endearing traits (Including her tendency to break the 4th wall), as do all the ponies of the new show…
But while I like all the ponies on the show, when I saw that someone on DeviantArt was making the most wonderful of custom Plushies for the show I had to pick a favorite to be ordered (And that was of course Pinkie Pie). She arrived today, after several patient weeks watching the creator make other pony plushies (Each amazingly faithful to the show). These plushies were just adorable, and far better than the simple official toys that Hasbro was offering for fans of the show (A problem I hope they rectify in the future by offering better merchandise). And here she is now, my Pinkie Pie:
It’s difficult to judge dimensions from a picture but Pinkie Pie is about half as large from nose to tail as a standard desktop keyboard, she fits into an area about the size of an adult human head (Perhaps a little smaller). She’s appears to be mostly machine stitched with some hand stitching here and there. All the seams are very well done and do not detract from the look of the plush at all. Her eyes and mouth are colored in by marker and glued on, her eyelashes and "highlights" in her mane are also drawn in. The cutie mark is glued in place like the eyes, and the body and mane are stuffed with soft material with one surprise. That surprise is a wire skeleton that makes this plushy somewhat pose-able, you can make her sit, hold up a leg, look this way or that (There are some limits to how much you can pose her though of course). This was something I didn’t expect to with the plush and was pleasantly surprised to discover as even most factory made commercial plushies will not come with such a feature. Additionally the mane and tail on Pinkie Pie is nice and poofy, being filled with plenty of stuffing, and it has a great 3D look to it like the cartoon came to life right out of the show (The entire plush is very light as well).
Granted this is a custom made plushy, and you can tell. But that’s not a bad thing, it just means the details were hand drawn with love and care and opposed to a mechanical pattern sewing out lines and highlights exactly the same on each figure. No there’s nothing I would change about this plushy (Well except perhaps that it would have been cool to have had artist sign her work on the bottom of one of the hoofs), I am very satisfied with it and would recommend anyone interested in procuring a MLP:FiM plushy to do so from EvilSugar (Contact Ayango to place orders when they open up commissions). Just be prepared to wait, it takes a few days for each plush to be made one at a time (They’re being made by hand remember) and the quality put into the work is definitely worth the wait, just so long as you go into it with the understanding that it could take 3 – 5 weeks to receive your pony depending on how many orders are ahead of you. Fortunately the creator does a good job of keeping customers up to date on progress by posting a picture of each plush as it’s made to her DeviantArt page.
Since you clicked on this article, I suppose you’re asking yourself, what are the best pick up lines for girls? Well to begin with, we’ve all heard the preposterous pickup lines that are NOT going to help your situation…
Lame Pick Up Lines For Girls – A Few Examples
“Pardon me, do you have any Italian in you? Well do you want some?”
Or here are some other corny pick up lines…
“I hope you know CPR, because you are taking my breath away.”
Here are a few other bad pick up lines to use on girls which are sure to turn her off…
“Hey, now you owe me a drink, honey. [Why?] Because I dropped mine the instant I saw you.”
“Hey there, can I borrow a quarter? [What for?] I need to call my mom and tell her I just met the girl of my dreams.”
“Do you have a map I can borrow? Because I keep getting lost in your eyes.”
“Tell me, are you a religious person? Because you’re the answer to my prayers.”
“Hi, I’m new in town…so can you give me directions to your place?”
“If I followed you home, would you keep me?”
“Is that just my heart taking off, or is there an airport nearby?”
“I was so captivated by your beauty that I ran into that wall over there…I’m going to need your name and number for insurance purposes.”
A few more lame pick up lines to use on girls that I strongly suggest you DON’T use…
“Wouldn’t you and I look adorable on a wedding cake together?”
“Excuse me miss, do you know karate? Because your body is really kickin’.”
“You look so sweet you’re giving me a toothache.”
But what about the pick up lines for girls that WORK?
The “Trick” To Using Pick Up Lines For Girls (The Right Way)
In order for a pick up line to perform well on girls, it should accomplish at least one of two things…
1) The pick up line causes her to laugh
2) The pick up line will make think and give a thoughtful response (“opinion” openers, where you ask the girl for her opinion on something, would be an example of these)
If your pick up line doesn’t accomplish one of those two things, there’s a good chance she is just going to blow you off.
The good part, however, is that it’s really not that hard to make a girl laugh or think, especially if you’re prepared with a one of these pick up lines for girls up your sleeve…
Pick Up Lines For Girls That Actually Work
“Hi, let me get your opinion real quick…who do you think lies more, women or men? My friend says men but I think it’s women hands down.”
(Girls love to share their opinions on this subject. Any “opinion opener” involving male-female relationships, cheating, jealous boyfriend or girlfriends, etc usually works quite well…)
“Hi, the other day I was chatting with my friend about astrology, and I would like to get a woman’s opinion on this…do you think a person’s star sign effects their personality, or do you think that just a load of crap?”
You can follow up with “What’s your star sign?”
Here’s the funny and confident way to play it: when she tells you her sign, tell her that she is totally NOT compatible with your sign! Smile and say, “you and me could NEVER date each other. We’re all wrong for each other.” Etc. Women love this type of self-assured humor, plus you’re saying something unexpected.
Or go with some cute pickup lines that work…
“So seriously, who do you think wears more makeup? Gene Simmons, or that waitress over there?”
“Hi, I’m thinking of going to the salon today and getting a new hair style. Look around at the guys in here…if you could pick any hair cut here for me to try, which one would you suggest? And it can’t be that guy over there with the bowl cut…be nice.”
Remember this crucial piece of advice when you’re thinking of using pick up lines for girls: you never want to seem like you WANT something from the girl you’re talking to. Instead, you want it to seem like you’re striking up a random conversation because you’re bored and she happened to be standing nearby.
This means that rather than walking up to her head-on, come at her from the side and move casually. You don’t want to surprise her. Act like she’s just some random person you want to share a quick joke or conversation with. When you make this type of casual, laidback approach, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how receptive most girls are.
One more rule on using pick up lines for girls: the #1 thing you can do right now is memorize a few strong ones AND have your responses-to-her-responses ready to go. (When she reacts to your pick up line, you want to use it to transition into the conversation.). So for starters, memorize a few lines and responses, and as you gain some experience and get more comfortable using pick up lines for girls, you can come up with your own.
Just remember, the idea is to start a conversation, not spit out a one liner in a woman’s face, so the follow up is as important as what you say first. As long as your opener is interesting and achieves one of the two goals I mentioned above (it makes her laugh, or makes her think), following up and engaging her in a conversation shouldn’t be challenging at all.
I hope you’ve loved these pickup lines that work. If you’d like to learn a pretty cool step by step formula to open a conversation with any girl, trigger INSTANT attraction, and walk away with her email and phone number in less than 3 minutes, click here.
